Our History
150 Years of Brotherhood in Leicester
For over 150 years, Commercial Lodge No. 1391 has brought together Leicester’s business and professional community. Founded for the city’s commercial men, it has evolved into a modern, values-driven brotherhood welcoming men of good character from all backgrounds.
We are not a secret society, but a membership organisation built on integrity, friendship and mutual support.

What is freemasonry?
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest fraternal organisations.
It exists to help men improve themselves and contribute positively to society.
Through structured ceremonies, mentoring and shared learning, members reflect on integrity, responsibility and how to live well. The experience builds confidence, leadership ability and lasting friendships.
Freemasonry is not political and not a religion. It welcomes men of different faiths and backgrounds who believe in living by strong moral principles.
Our Achievements
Developing Men of Character
The true achievement of Commercial Lodge 1391 is the growth of its members.
Through structured ceremonies, shared learning and strong fellowship, members develop confidence, leadership skills and a deeper sense of responsibility to their community. Many of our brethren have gone on to serve in senior positions within the lodge and in the wider Province, while continuing to contribute meaningfully to local causes.
We measure success not only in charitable giving, but in the quality of the men we help shape.
